March Homeschool Classes

Tuesdays, March 9 & 23
10 – 11:30 am

Limited spots available. Adults who would like to participate in the class are able to register and pay the fee for their own slot (if available).  Admission to the Exhibits is not included. There are two ways to register: in person at the Guest Services desk in the Museum lobby or contact the Group Sales department during regular weekday business hours at groups@cookmuseum.org or (256) 898-6312.

March Class Topics:

K – 2nd Grade Class: Amazing Animals – Reptiles and Amphibians

$12 (+ tax) per participant

Come discover the amazing differences between amphibians and reptiles!  You will be immersed in the world of herpetology by observing and interacting with the Museum’s Animal Ambassadors, like the leopard frogs and corn snakes. You will use your new knowledge and creativity to design your very own organism and habitat and work in your own scientific journal.

3rd – 6th Grade Class: The World Around You: Geography

$12 (+ tax) per participant

Do you want to know more about our wonderful Planet Earth? How are some of Earth’s features made, what are they called, and where are they found? When you join us for “The World Around You”, you can learn about this and so much more with hands-on activities, crafts, and games. Use your new knowledge about  Earth’s features and usable materials to build a city.

7th – 12th Grade Class: It’s In Your Blood (Dissection)

$18 (+ tax) per participant

Blood – what is it, why do we need it, and why do we give it?  In this interactive, hands-on class, you will learn all about what your blood is made of and how your cells use it. You will enjoy games, hands-on activities, and use a compound light microscope. You will even dissect a preserved sheep kidney to see how blood gets filtered!
