March Community Classes

Tuesdays, March 2 & 16
10 – 11:30 am

Limited spots available. Adults who would like to participate in the class are able to register and pay the fee for their own slot (if available).  Admission to the Exhibits is not included. There are two ways to register: in person at the Guest Services desk in the Museum lobby or contact the Group Sales department during regular weekday business hours at groups@cookmuseum.org or (256) 898-6312.

March Class Topics:

K – 4th Grade Class: Taking on Taxonomy

$12 (+ tax) per participant

Come explore the diverse world of the animal kingdom! While studying an array of different species, you will learn the specific characteristics that biologists use to classify animals in each taxonomic category. With hands-on activities, Live Animal Presentations, and interactive games, you will come to understand how each category of animal is different and their niche in the animal kingdom.

5th – 12th Grade Class: What’s in a Worm? (Dissection)

$18 (+ tax) per participant

Worms! Come discover the role worms play in the ecosystem. You will leave with an understanding of how they are categorized and what sets them apart from other animals. With close-up examinations of both living and non-living earthworms, you will investigate their characteristics and understand their physical needs. Finally, you will dissect an earthworm to study the external and internal structures.
